Tip Jar

What is this "Tip Jar"? To be honest, it is a bit of an experiment. You see, we need a fence and I would like a greenhouse and well, more seeds. I have been trying to incorporate advertising into my site and it makes me wince on a daily basis. You see, with a name like "Mental Chew" the robots that choose my ads like to throw mental health ads and depression cures into the mix. When I post about food, companies that I intentionally avoid while shopping, pop into my reader's field of view. Whenever I post about gardening, I find myself creating at least a dozen "blocks" for companies who haven't signed the "Safe Seed Pledge".  Overall, I find that I am spending way too much time trying to re-filter their filters.

My blog serves many purposes for me. It is a creative outlet, something I can complete, a challenge, a memoir for my kids, a record of successes and hiccups, a log of learning and moments that were a little dim, a place where I can change things around and not drive the Good Apple crazy.

If you would like to have me try out a seed variety for you, throw in a couple of bucks for seed and I would be happy to oblige. If I have helped you plan a couple of meals, help me buy the goods for one of ours. If you are gardening as a result of reading here, what a gift to your family and WOW, this is the one that really blows my mind. Thank you for sharing the gift of good food for your family and for yourself.

The bottom line is this, you won't be seeing anymore ads while I try this tip jar experiment. Your visions of food and garden goodness will not be interrupted by nonsense words and images that have nothing to do with my mission. In addition, I will be able to spend more time on content and less time on fidgeting with filter lists. So there it is.

Thanks for considering.
